Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

In the fall semester, we invited Fr. Magnus Wenninger, the famed polyhedron builder to show students his construction methods. (He conveniently lives in the monastery here.) For the Christmas party, a new colleague showed students how to make origami polyhedral as Christmas decorations. This spring we had our 33rd Pi Mu Epsilon conference. While our conference was not as packed as last year’s event, we had a very healthy 105 attendees. Ken Millett did a terrific job as our featured speaker. We had 105 people in attendance. Thanks to our Pi Mu Epsilon grant, we were able to give each of the sixteen student speakers a copy of an MAA book. We were also able to provide transportation funding to student speaker coming from other schools, thanks to a grant from the MAA Regional Undergraduate Mathematics Conferences program. We inducted six students and our two new departmental colleagues into Pi Mu Epsilon this year.

Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the 2012 PME national meeting at MathFest in Madison, Wisconsin?

Yes.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates, for example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences?

If you were awarded a PME Lectureship, Conference, or Prize Grant within the past year, please briefly describe the results.

Thanks to our Pi Mu Epsilon grant, we were able to give each of the sixteen student speakers a copy of an MAA book.
