Number of Continuing Members: 7

Activities: 1.) We conducted our second annual Pi Mu Epsilon Regional Applied Mathematics Conference, which is described in more detail below. 2.) Our chapter helped organize the Mathematical Association of America Golden Section Meeting, which occurred at Sonoma State University in February, 2014. Additionally, several members presented posters and others served as student volunteers on the day of the conference.

Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present at the PME National Meeting this year? No.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduations? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences, etc.
Fabian Santiago received the Alan Ziff and Cheryl Scholar (Ziff) Scholarship, and the Robert F. Fletcher Memorial Scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year, and presented a paper titled "Application Power Signature Analysis", which was presented at The Tenth Workshop on High-Performance, Power-Aware Computing on May 19, 2014, in Phoenix, Arizona. Elizabeth Schleth is receiving the Robert Noyce Scholarship for both the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 academic years, and will begin the Sonoma State Single Subject Credential Program next year, as well as student teaching in a Pilot program. Robin Decker is beginning her doctorate at the University of California, Davis.

If you were awarded a PME Lectureship, Conference, or Prize Grant within the past year, please briefly describe the results.
Our chapter was awarded the PME Conference Grant last year to conduct our second annual Pi Mu Epsilon Regional Mathematics Conference, which took place on Saturday, October 26th, 2013 at Sonoma State University. This year featured a career panel of guests with a variety of careers in mathematics, informational presentations about the graduate programs in Applied Math at UC Davis and Mathematics at San Francisco State University, a poster session, three student research seminars, and two other seminars, including a keynote presentation on the mathematics of sex determination in crocodiles. The conference was very successful, with students, faculty and other guests from several universities in the greater bay area attending.
