Activities: Glen Van Brummelen gave our annual Pi Mu Epsilon Lecture: "From the Heavens to the Earth: The Mercurial Tale of Spherical Trigonometry." We presented four undergraduate students and one graduate student with our Pi Mu Epsilon Book Award this year, made possible by a Chapter Matching Grant. This year's book is Glen Van Brummelen's "Heavenly Mathematics: The Forgotten Art of Spherical Trigonometry" -- suitably inscribed by the author.

Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present at the PME National Meeting this year? I believe Megan Rodriiguez, who will be pursuing summer research with Hood faculty member Gwyneth Whieldon this summer, plans to attend MathFest and report on her results.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduations? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences, etc.
Skyler Stasiewicz and Tarang Hirani presented the results of their Summer 2013 research at the SUMS (Shenandoah Undergraduate Mathematics and Statistics) Conference in the fall. Alison Schuetz and Skyler Stasiewicz participated in the Undergraduate Poster Session at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in January; Alison received an Outstanding Presentation Award. Sienna Bronson has been accepted into the National Security Scholars Program for Summer 2014. Tarang Hirani has received a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship at NIST for the summer.

If you were awarded a PME Lectureship, Conference, or Prize Grant within the past year, please briefly describe the results.
We used our Chapter Matching Grant to help to purchase books for our Pi Mu Epsilon Book Prize for outstanding mathematics students.
