Activities: (1) In October, we hosted Dr. Dave Kung from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Dr. Kung gave an afternoon colloquium, and he was the plenary speaker at the North Carolina MAA State Dinner. Both of his talks were about the intersection of mathematics and music. More information about the event can be found at, https://www.elon.edu/e-net/Article/122893. (2) In May, we welcomed Dr. Roland Minton (Roanoke College) for an engaging afternoon colloquium on the topic “Do Dogs Know Calculus?” Dr. Minton was also the guest speaker at our department’s celebration dinner where among other things we inducted our new PME members. More information about the event can be found at, http://www.elon.edu/e-net/Article/132048.

Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present at the PME National Meeting this year? Peter Jakes will attend and present.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduations? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences, etc.
Here is a summary. (1) 15 of our PME members graduated this year. Six will be attending graduate school, two will be high school math teachers, and the rest are entering the workforce in STEM careers. (2) They gave 17 presentations this year at regional and national conferences. (3) They published 3 papers and submitted 5 papers for publication.

If you were awarded a PME Lectureship, Conference, or Prize Grant within the past year, please briefly describe the results.
We were awarded a matching grant to help fund our PME Research Award. This award is given to a student or students who have shown outstanding achievement in the dissemination of mathematical research. This year's recipients were Michael Keenan, Sara Rodgers, and Jesi Weed. They have each submitted or published a paper, and they have given 13 presentations at national and regional conferences. We were also awarded a Conference Grant which helped fund the 11th annual University of North Carolina Greensboro Regional Mathematics and Statistics Conference. The conference website is, http://www.uncg.edu/mat/rmsc/2015. A total of 169 participants attended the conference, which was held on Saturday, November 7, 2015. There were 49 presentations given by undergraduates. Conference proceedings were published in the inaugural issue of the North Carolina Journal of Mathematics and Statistics.
