Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

In the Spring we held a caramel apple pop fundraiser in honor of the day Sir Isaac Newton was knighted (April 16, 1705). Along with a $.50 lolly pop, students were given a math problem to complete and then be entered in a raffle for a gift certificate. We raised $27.50.

Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the 2009 PME national meeting at MathFest in Portland, Oregon?

Unfortunately, no.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates, for example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences?

Seniors Michael Holten and Bradley Schorer attended the American Physical Society Northwest Conferece (APS NW) and presented their Senior Thesis research. Not only were they able to receive feedback on their work, they were also able to see what is active in the field of physics. Senior Anne Muehleck was accepted to George Fox University’s Master of Arts in Teaching program. Senior Lesley Bryant is attending the Univeristy of Alabama at Birmingham to study Neuroscience in the pursuit of a PhD.
