Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:
In the fall: Panel on Internships and REUs--4 PME members described their REUs and actuarial internship experiences In the spring: 23rd annual induction ceremony including the lecture, "Frieze Patterns of the Alhambra" by Professor B. Lynn Bodner of Monmouth University
Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Madison, Wisconsin?
Peter Olszewski'08 will be presenting "Group Presentations, Cayley Graphs and Markov Processes" at the PME student paper session.
Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates, for example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences?
Christine Mauro'08 was accepted into the PhD program at Columbia University in Biostatistics. She was awarded a three year fellowship which covers tuition along with a $25,000/year stipend. Peter Olszewski'08 has been accepted into the PhD program in mathematics at CUNY.
