| Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter mathematical activities this year: | |
| At the Youngstown State University Regional Pi Mu Epsilon conference, February 23, 2013, Tyler Richard Ewing presented: “A Complete Characterization of the Sheffer B-Type k Orthogonal Sets,” this resulted in a paper submitted to a peer reviewed journal. Clayton Schuman presented: “Multi-Dimensional Predator-Prey Models.” Mark Dombrowski presented: “Determining Quantized Orthogonal Polynomial Solutions to a Difference Equations.” Gabriel Kramer presented: “A Walk in the Woods.” Each of these students also presented the above talks at the MAA Allegheny Mountain Section Meeting at Indiana University of Pennsylvania on April 5, 2013. | |
| Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the 2013 PME national meeting at MathFest in Hartford, Connecticut? | |
| Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. | |
| Katie Burbules and Kathleen Murzynski both received academic scholarships from the LORD Corporation for the previous academic year. | |
| If you were awarded a PME Lectureship, Conference, or Prize Grant within the past year, please briefly describe the results. | |
