Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:
Each semester we have hold a “game night” for mathematics and operations research majors. The students get together with faculty to play board games and eat pizza. It is a nice way to socialize outside of the normal classroom setting.
Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the 2012 PME national meeting at MathFest in Madison, Wisconsin?
No, not this year.
Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates, for example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences?
Seven of our graduating Pi Mu Epsilon members will be attending graduate school. Sara Bangert – Air Force Institute of Technology in Operations Research Austin Buscher – Rice Univ. in Mechanical Engineering Casey Horgan – MIT in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering Michael MacAnrew – Air Force Institute of Technology in Operations Research Trave Myers – MIT in Material Science and Engineering Stephen Wakefield – Air Force Institute of Technology in Physics Keith Wyman – Air Force Institute of Technology in Physics In addition we have Pi Mu Epsilon members doing summer research projects as Google, MIT Lincoln Labs, and the National Security Agency.
