Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter mathematical activities this year:
We inducted twins this year! Amelia and Emily Lovelace are sophomores at Hood; one is a math major and the other is a minor. Annalisa Crannell gave our Pi Mu Epsilon lecture this year, on “Math and Art: The Good, the Bad, and the Pretty.”
Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the 2013 PME national meeting at MathFest in Hartford, Connecticut?
I do not believe so. | |
Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences.
Christopher DiGangi ’12 was just accepted into graduate school in aerospace engineering at George Washington University.
If you were awarded a PME Lectureship, Conference, or Prize Grant within the past year, please briefly describe the results.
We used our Prize Grant to award two graduating seniors, James Andrews and Kerrie Kenefick, the PME Book Prize. This year we gave the students “Viewpoints” by Annalisa Crannell and Mark Frantz. |
