Activities: This year the officers interviewed faculty members and wrote up a page or to about the interview. These were sent out to all the math majors and PME members at YSU so that the students could get to know their professors better and the faculty could share some of their wisdom with us students. Our chapter also helped make video workshops for YSU MathFest hosted by the department of mathematics and statistics. Members made videos about their experiences as math majors at YSU, an introduction to proofs, and a look at life and works of Archimedes. The videos were sent to local high schools to share with their students.
Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present at the PME National Meeting this year? Yes, we have at least four members who are planning on presenting at the PME National Meeting.
Do you have any news about current students or recent graduations? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences, etc.
Payton Linton will be attending Ohio State University for a PhD program in Physics.
Anthony Dickson will be attending Michigan State University for a PhD program in Mathematics Education.
Nicolas Beike and Mason Martuccio will be attending Kent State University for MS programs in Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, respectively.
