Activities: The annual Pi Mu Epsilon Lecture was held in conjunction with the Induction Ceremony. Our speaker was Prof. David Bressoud, DeWitt Wallace Professor of Mathematics at Macalester College and former President of the MAA. His talk was titled “Proofs and Confirmations: The Story of the Alternating Sign Matrix Conjecture”. The April 2017 Colloquium, given by St. Michael’s Alumna Sarah McGregor, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Physics at Keene State College was titled “Space Weather Forecasting and Metrics: How You Can’t Always Believe the Numbers”.
