Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:
Our annual induction was held on April 23, 2010. Our guest speaker was Dr. Robert Ghrist, whose talk was entitled “Sensor Sensibility: The Mathematics of Sensor Networks”. The event was very well-attended and the talk was a big hit, including with the parents who came to share the day with the honored students. Dr. Ghrist holds the Andrea Mitchell University Professorship at The University of Pennsylvania, with a joint appointment in the Departments of Mathematics and Electrical & Systems Engineering. He received his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics at Cornell University and has garnered numerous teaching and research awards, including being named one of Scientific American magazine’s “Top 50” technology research leaders for 2007.
