Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:
Annual Pi Mu Epsilon Lecture: Dr. Tina Straley, Executive Director of the MAA: “Gems from Math Horizons” Induction of new members: The provost and the president of the college attended and welcomed all the attendees. Our current members introduced the speaker, gave the history of the society, introduced the new members, and explained the insignia. We gave honor cords to our graduating seniors and had a nice reception afterwards.

Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the 2009 PME national meeting at MathFest in Portland, Oregon?
I hope so; not sure
Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates, for example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences?
Two of our current students attended the Nebraska Conference for Undergraduate Women in Mathematics. Abby Brackins started graduate school in the mathematics program at the University of Nebraska. Lindsey Naylor began grad school in economics at the University of Arizona.
If you were awarded a PME matching prize fund grant, please briefly describe what took place during the councilor’s visit.
With our Prize Grant, we awarded the Pi Mu Epsilon Book Prize to two student members at our college’s annual Honors and Awards Ceremony. We gave the books “Mathematical Delights” and “Math Chestnuts from Around the World” to two graduating seniors, Stephanie Tomasello and Michael Naylor. Thanks for making this possible!
