Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:
1. On March 1st, 2009, the Ramapo College of New Jersey Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon, New Jersey Nu, was installed. 14 members were listed on the charter and got inducted to Pi Mu Epsilon. Of the inducted members, 10 were students and 4 were faculty. Dr. Joan Weiss, a former president of the national Pi Mu Epsilon conducted the chapter installation and inducted new members into the society.
2. Our New Jersey Nu Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon organized a trip for a team of 3 students to the New Jersey Undergraduate Mathematics Competition. Ramapo College team won the 6th place among 29 competing teams in the team part of the competition and the three Ramapo students tied for 9th place in the individual part of the competition.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates, for example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences?
1. A recent inductee Michele Jastrzembski presented an undergraduate research paper at the Student Research Symposium held at Ramapo College. She worked on the project under the direction of her mentor, Sara Kuplinsky, and the title of her work was “Zigs-In-The-Plane Problem.”
2. A recent inductee James Caldera is planning to attend a law school after graduating from Ramapo College this May with a degree in mathematics.
3. A recent inductee Corinne Bronder, after graduation in May 2009, is planning to attend a master’s degree program in Educational Leadership at Ramapo College followed by a Master’s program in Statistics at one of the area’s universities while being a full-time high school mathematics teacher.
