Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present at the PME National Meeting this year? No.
Do you have any news about current students or recent graduations? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences, etc.
22 of our PME members graduated this year. Some are attending graduate school, others will be high school math teachers, and the rest are entering the workforce in STEM careers.
If you were awarded a PME Lectureship, Conference, or Prize Grant within the past year, please briefly describe the results.
We were awarded a matching grant to help fund our PME Research Award. This award is given to a student or students who have shown outstanding achievement in the dissemination of mathematical research. This year's recipients were Nick Hadgis, Kiley Shannon, and Janae Williams. During their undergraduate careers, they have published or submitted 3 research papers, and they have given 11 presentations at national and regional conferences.
We were also awarded a Conference Grant which helped fund the 13th annual University of North Carolina Greensboro Regional Mathematics and Statistics Conference. The conference website is, http://www.uncg.edu/mat/rmsc/2017. A total of 232 participants attended the conference, which was held on Friday-Saturday, November 3-4, 2017. There were 58 student presentations. Conference proceedings were published in the North Carolina Journal of Mathematics and Statistics.
