Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:
1) We sponsored a performance of “Calculus: The Musical!” on campus. It was made even more unusual by the presence of a tornado near campus on the night of the performance. 2) We sponsored a Math Jeopardy contest for several teams of students. The winning team won by 1 point!
Did any of your chapter members attend or present a paper at the 2009 PME national meeting at MathFest in Portland, Oregon?
No (but we’ll plan to send some members to Pittsburgh in 2010).
Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates, for example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences?
Jack Knorr is in the doctoral program in Statistics at OSU. Carlos Bernal is working on a Masters’ in the Mathematics Department at OSU. Jack Knorr, Carlos Bernal, Markus Vasquez, and Jonathan Crossley presented papers at the MAA Oklahoma-Arkansas Section annual meeting in March 2009.
