Nominate your PME Advisor for the 2017 J. Douglass Faires Advisor Award
Every three years, the J. Douglass Faires Award is presented to a chapter advisor in recognition for his or her outstanding service. Advisors who recognize the importance of mentoring students, who encourage students to engage in scholarly activities, who ensure that their chapters are active, etc. play an extremely vital role in promoting PME’s mission. If you wish to nominate your own advisor, please email Professor Paul Fishback at fishbacp@mail.gvsu.edu and briefly describe why you feel he or she is deserving of this honor. The deadline for nominations is June 1, 2017. The recipient of the award will be recognized during the PME Banquet at MathFest and will receive a $500 cash prize.

Math Potluck: A Student Swap Session
Saturday afternoon, July 29, 2017
Calling all undergrads and faculty advisors! Does your department have (or want!) a Math Club or student chapter of the AWM, MAA, PME, or SIAM? This session will provide a forum for sharing your favorite or most successful student activity. The presenter(s) will provide a “how-to” for a single math event that a math club or student chapter has held. Together, we will build a toolbox of successful activities to take back to each of our campuses! Following the morning presentations, a free lunch will be held for all presenters and attendees of this session to promote continued discussion and collaboration amongst participants. Please indicate in your abstract submission whether your group is a Math Club or student chapter of AWM, MAA, PME, or SIAM.
This session is jointly sponsored by the AWM, MAA, PME, and SIAM
Go to this page to submit an abstract for this session.

New PME Contest: Have a Pizza Π!
To encourage students to work together on PME Journal problems, Pi Mu Epsilon is happy to announce that any schools which send in correct solutions to at least two problems will be entered into a drawing to win a free pizza dinner (up to $100). Faculty may work with students , but each solution must have at least one student. The number of problems solved by your school is how many times your schools’ name will be entered, and then one name will be uniformly drawn for the prize.
Current and past Journal Problems can be found on the PME Journal page.
