Activities: May 4th, 2018 was the first ever Pi Mu Epsilon Induction Ceremony at Colorado College. President of Pi Mu Epsilon, Professor Paul Fishback, attended the ceremony and installed the Colorado Epsilon Chapter. This was an exciting time that came after a very frantic Spring attempting to get all the paperwork in on time. Many thanks to graduating senior Hanbo Shao for all his efforts. The other most exciting event in our short PME year, was the ability for newly inducted member, Sam Kottler, to attend Math Fest in Denver, CO. Sam attended the PME events and left the conference with many great ideas about what our chapter and our Math Clubs should do in the 2018-2019 school year. He shared these ideas at our first Math Club meeting and the group is in the process of planning our very first in house Estimathon.

Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present at the PME National Meeting this year? Sam Kottler attended the PME National Meeting this year. We plan on sending a student representative next year as well.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduations? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences, etc.
Our newly inducted students have many accomplishments. Outgoing President Hanbo Shao was accepted to graduate school and started a Masters program at Georgia Tech. Graduating senior Anna Lynn-Palevsky was also accepted to graduate school and will be at Harvard in the Fall. Graduating senior Bob Kuo stayed at Colorado College as our department’s paraprofessional. Current students Malcolm Gabbard, Sam Kottler, Sophie Aiken, Zhaopeng Li, and Haley Colgate all participated in summer research and have plans of presenting their work at conferences such as Front Range Number Theory Day, Joint Math Meetings, Midstates Research Symposium, and Pikes Peak Undergraduate Mathematics Research Conference. Also, a group of three newly inducted sophomore students Liwei (David) Cui, Xinling Dai, and Vladimir Vintu earned an honorable mention in the Mathematical Competition in Modeling.

If you were awarded a PME Lectureship, Conference, or Prize Grant within the past year, please briefly describe the results.
