Activities: On May 3, 2019 we had our induction ceremony. We used a Richard A Good Lectureship Grant to bring Dr. Jennifer Beineke, one of the councilors for PME, to campus to participate in the festivities. Dr. Beineke gave a fun and interactive talk about mathematics and games before the induction ceremony and then participated in the induction of four new members. We are grateful for the opportunity to have Dr. Beineke at Colorado College. Several members of PME, in conjunction with Math Club, participated in the Cool Science Festival in Colorado Springs. The aim of the day long festival is to get local elementary and middle school students excited about math and science.

Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present at the PME National Meeting this year? Haley Colgate ’20 and Sam Kottler ’19 attended and presented at the PME National Meeting in 2019. Haley won a Pi Mu Epsilon Speaker Award for her work on measuring gerrymandering.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduations? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences, etc.
Our members have many accomplishments. Bob Kuo ‘18 was accepted to the Ph.D. program at the University of Colorado-Boulder and Malcolm Gabbard ’19 was accepted the Ph.D. program at Kansas State University. Sam Kottler ‘19 and Sophie Aiken ’19 accepted paraprofessional positions at Colorado College for a year before they apply to graduate school. Malcolm Gabbard ’19, Sophie Aiken ’19, Haley Colgate ’20, Sam Kottler ’19, Vladimir Vintu ’20, and Cinea Jenkins ‘20 participated in the first annual history of mathematics poster contest at the Rocky Mountain Sectional MAA Meeting with several members winning awards for their posters. Vladimir Vintu ’20 was honored for receiving one of the top scores in the state of Colorado on the Putnam Exam.

If you were awarded a PME Lectureship, Conference, or Prize Grant within the past year, please briefly describe the results.
We used a Richard A Good Lectureship Grant to bring Dr. Jennifer Beineke to campus for our induction ceremony. The event was a great success, with a lot of students and faculty members attending the talk before the induction ceremony.
