Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

As usual, we had our Annual Calculus Competition, co-sponsored by all the science departments at Loyola. The competition was held on March 28, 2008. We also had our Calculus Competition Award Banquet and Induction ceremony on April 25, 2008. This was a time for faculty and students to come together outside of the classroom to celebrate student achievement. Everyone had a good time.

Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Madison, Wisconsin?

Not this year.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates, for example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences?

Taniecea Arceneaux, who was inducted to PME in April of 2005, just finished her first year at Princeton University. She reports that this year “has been the most challenging and exciting year of my life!” She also reports that she was awarded a Ford Foundation Predoctoral Diversity Fellowship.
