Activities: This year Elon's chapter hosted 6 exciting events. Our 6th annual fall pizza party included a wonderful guest lecture by Elon’s Dr. Ryne Vankrevelen. Our other speakers came from a variety of institutions including, Davidson College, Wake Forest University, Ferris State University in Michigan, and University of Nebraska at Lincoln. They spoke about a variety of topics, including: March Madness, the Mathematics of Musical Tuning Systems, Elliptic Curves, Topology, Data Analytics, Bayes’ Theorem, as well as an amazing talk on machine learning by Elon Alum Dr. Jaime Spesier from Wake Forest School of Medicine.

Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present at the PME National Meeting this year? Sadly, no.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduations? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences, etc.
20 of our PME members graduated this year. Some are attending graduate school, others will be high school math teachers, and the rest are entering the workforce in STEM careers.

If you were awarded a PME Lectureship, Conference, or Prize Grant within the past year, please briefly describe the results.
We were awarded a matching grant to help fund our PME Research Award. This award is given to a student or students who have shown outstanding achievement in the dissemination of mathematical research. This year's recipients were Morgan Ferguson, Peter Komlofske, and Madison Jaudon. During their undergraduate careers, they have published or submitted 4 research papers, and they have given 11 presentations at national and regional conferences. We were also awarded a Conference Grant which helped fund the 14th annual University of North Carolina Greensboro Regional Mathematics and Statistics Conference. The conference website is, http://www.uncg.edu/mat/rmsc/2018. A total of 172 participants attended the conference, which was held on Saturday, November 3, 2018. There were 46 student presentations. Conference proceedings were published in the North Carolina Journal of Mathematics and Statistics.
